Threads Alternatives: 10 Similar iPhone Apps in 2026

By App Store Tracker Editorial · Updated May 25, 2026 — live App Store data verified 1 min ago

      The short version

Instagram is the strongest Threads alternative, sharing the same Meta account, social graph, and feed-scrolling habit on a giant, highly rated base. Facebook covers similar ground for following people and topics. For real-conversation communities without the political pile-ons reviewers complain about, ibble offers a calmer, interest-based feed. Each keeps Threads' core idea: follow people, post short updates, and scroll a public conversation feed.

People look for Threads alternatives when the feed fills with bots and political flame wars, when the following feed is buried, or when the app just feels buggy. The apps below share parts of Threads' core: follow people, post short text updates, and scroll a public conversation feed. Some are full social networks from the same company, others are smaller community-first apps, and a few are niche tools for tracking followers or analytics. We ranked them using embedding similarity against Threads' text-social model, then weighed live App Store ratings and how many people use each one. The top picks mirror the social-feed experience most closely, while several lower entries serve narrower jobs. Pricing and ratings beside each app come straight from the live store.

        4.7(29.1M)
        Paid

        Why it's similar

Instagram shares Threads' DNA directly: it's from Meta, uses the same login and social graph, and runs an endless feed you scroll for posts from people you follow. Threads launched as Instagram's sibling, so the crossover is built in.

        How it differs

Instagram centers on photos, Reels, and visual posts rather than Threads' text-first conversation. It has a massive, highly rated base, though reviewers gripe about a Reels-heavy feed and iPad layout, making it the closest mainstream alternative with a more visual slant.

        Why it's similar

Threader connects to the same Threads ecosystem, helping you monitor post performance and follower growth on your Threads account.

        How it differs

It's an analytics companion, not a place to post or scroll a feed, so it can't replace Threads for actually using the network. It's paid with a small base, useful only as an add-on for Threads creators tracking metrics.

        Yash Atreya

        88% similar
        Get on App Store

        Why it's similar

This Threads app shares the name and the idea of reading the best of Twitter-style posts without the noise, echoing what Threads users want from a cleaner feed.

        How it differs

It's an independent reader that surfaces curated threads rather than a full social network where you post and build a following. With a low rating and only a few reviews, it's a tiny niche reader rather than a real Threads substitute.

        Get on App Store

        Why it's similar

The Thread by Ardent borrows the social-community framing: follow interests, read news, and engage with a feed of updates.

        How it differs

It's actually an internal community app for a health-services organization, so it's gated to that audience rather than open social conversation. With no public ratings, it's unrelated to Threads' open network despite the similar pitch.

        84% similar
        Get on App Store

        Why it's similar

Facebook covers the same job as Threads: follow people, post updates, and scroll a feed of public and friend content. As a Meta product it shares account infrastructure and overlaps in social reach.

        How it differs

It's a sprawling network built around friends, groups, and Marketplace rather than Threads' lean text feed. It carries a strong rating on an enormous base, making it a broad alternative for people who want more than a conversation timeline.

        Why it's similar

Social Threads shares only the word 'threads' in its name.

        How it differs

It's actually a clothing-and-accessories shopping app for browsing new arrivals and exclusive drops, with no social feed or posting at all. Its high rating reflects a small retail audience, making it unrelated to Threads the social network.

        Why it's similar

Threadster also shares only the 'thread' wordplay with Threads.

        How it differs

It's a thread inventory tracker for crafting and sewing projects, helping match colors and manage supplies, not a social app. With a tiny base and a hobbyist focus, it has nothing in common with Threads' conversation feed.

        Why it's similar

ineedthis.com pitches a reimagined social network where you share photos, videos, and quick posts while controlling privacy, echoing parts of Threads' posting flow.

        How it differs

It's an early, privacy-focused community app with no ratings yet, so it's unproven next to Threads' scale. It's a fledgling alternative for people seeking a smaller, more private social space.

      9. 9ibble - Social Media icon

        #9ibble - Social Media

        Ibble Inc.

        Free · IAP
        84% similar
        Get on App Store

        Why it's similar

ibble matches Threads' goal of real conversations, organizing people into interest-based communities for discussing topics, trends, and events.

        How it differs

It swaps Threads' single public timeline for topic communities, which can sidestep the political pile-ons Threads reviewers dislike. With a decent rating and a small base, it's a community-first alternative for focused discussion rather than a mass feed.

      10. 10MyFollowers - Official App icon

        #10MyFollowers - Official App

        4.2(369)

        Why it's similar

MyFollowers ties into social accounts to help creators grow and manage their presence, overlapping with the audience-building side of Threads.

        How it differs

It's a follower and unfollower tracker with a creator dashboard, not a network where you post or scroll a feed. Paid with a modest base, it's an analytics tool for managing reach rather than a Threads replacement.

How we ranked these 10 alternatives

      Embedding similarity

Every app in our database carries a dense vector embedding derived from its title, subtitle, full description, and category metadata. To find apps similar to Threads, we compute cosine distance against every other app and surface the closest 60 candidates. The similarity score shown on each pick is 1 - distance/2 clamped to [0,1] — 100% means the embedding spaces are identical, 0% means orthogonal.

      Re-ranking signals

We then re-rank the candidate set using current App Store rating and review-count signals so a 4.8-star app with 100,000 reviews ranks above a 4.5-star app with 200 reviews even when their embedding distance is similar. Apps that haven't shipped an update in 12 months are filtered out before re-ranking.

      Refresh cadence

The similarity cache is recomputed weekly. Live App Store data (rating, review count) is verified every 6 hours.
