Frequently asked questions
- Where does the ranking data come from?
- All chart positions are pulled directly from Apple’s public RSS ranking feeds. App metadata (name, developer, icon, description, price, screenshots, release date) comes from the public iTunes Search API. Nothing is scraped from the App Store website.
- How often do rankings update?
- Each (country, category, ranking type) combination refreshes once per day. Individual app metadata refreshes when an app enters a chart, when its position changes, or when a user visits its detail page.
- Which countries and categories are covered?
- Five storefronts: United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Brazil. All 22 published App Store categories. Top free, top paid, and top grossing charts.
- Do you track Android apps or the Google Play Store?
- No. App Store Tracker is iOS-only. The Google Play Store uses a separate ranking methodology and is out of scope.
- Do you estimate downloads or revenue?
- Apple does not publish per-app download or revenue figures. Any revenue or download numbers shown are estimates inferred from rank history and category benchmarks — treat them as directional, not exact.
- How far back does ranking history go?
- Ranking history is retained from the date an app first entered a tracked chart. Older apps that were already in the charts at launch have history going back to October 2023.
- How do I report a data issue?
- Email issues to the contact address on the About page and include the app URL, country, and what looks wrong. Corrections are typically applied within 24 hours.
